Windows 11
Microsoft unveiled Windows 11 on June 24th, highlighting the new look and the many new features.
While we will have to wait for confirmation from Microsoft, here is everything we know about the release date and features:
Release date
Microsoft has dropped hints that the release will happen in October 2021. However, this could be the date that new equipment is sold with Windows 11 pre-installed. For people running Windows 10 and want to upgrade, you may have to wait until 2022.
Minimum Specifications
Microsoft has published the requirements for the update: (subject to change)
- Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with at least two cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or SoC
- RAM: 4GB
- Storage: 64GB
- System Firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
- TPM: Trusted Platform Module 2.0
- Graphics Card: DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
- Display: 720p, 8-bit per color channel, at least 9-inch diagonal
- Internet Connection and Microsoft Account: Requires an active internet connection and a Microsoft Account to complete the initial, first-use setup of the operating system

Windows 11 will be a free update for existing Windows users.

- New multitasking features side, but in columns, sections, and more
- Improved health check app in Settings
- Improved multi-monitor support
- New estimated installation time for Windows Update
- Redesigned Microsoft Store
- WPA, EWP, and Win32 apps in the Microsoft Store
- Light Mode and Dark Mode
- The start menu will be center screen and “cloud powered.”
- Windows Widgets are back.
